Cleve McDaniel, PhD

Principal - Planning, Budgeting and Operations

Cleve McDanielCleve McDaniel is currently Vice President for Finance and Administration with the Desert Research Institute, which has campuses in Reno and Las Vegas, Nevada. The Institute is a not-for-profit environmental research institute within the University and Community College System of Nevada. Prior to this, Dr. McDaniel was Vice Chancellor for Administration and Finance at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs (UCCS). He has also served as Vice President for Administrative Affairs at Northeastern Illinois University in Chicago and Vice President for Administration at Lincoln University in Jefferson City, Missouri. Dr. McDaniel had senior-level responsibility for academic and administrative computing at Northeastern Illinois and Lincoln. Before he became Vice President at Lincoln, Dr. McDaniel served in several capacities at that institution, including Director of Institutional Planning and Research.

Prior to his tenure at Lincoln, Dr. McDaniel served as Senior Associate for Planning, Policy Studies and Data Services at the Missouri Coordinating Board for Higher Education. This agency has the responsibility for coordinating all state public higher education. In total, Dr. McDaniel has over 22 years of experience in higher education, and over thirty years experience in organizational planning and research. Dr. McDaniel earned his PhD in Higher Education Administration from the University of Missouri at Columbia.

Recent ECF consulting activities include working with the Poison Control Center Technical Assistance Resource Center to develop and implement a strategic planning model for the Center and for poison control centers across the country. Also, with ECF, Dr. McDaniel has helped the University of Puerto Rico at Rio Piedras, the University of Texas at El Paso, the El Paso Community College District and the Thurgood Marshall Scholarship Foundation with their information technology and organizational strategic planning efforts. Prior information technology-related consulting efforts include the Department of Information Resources at the California State University in Bakersfield, New Mexico State University, and Southern University in New Orleans. He has also assisted the Missouri Veterans’ Commission, and local United Way, Chamber of Commerce and YMCA organizations with their strategic planning efforts.
