Dr. Ronald J. Langley has over 35 years of experience in higher
education technology. He has held CIO positions at California State
University Long Beach, University of Alaska, Anchorage and Lincoln
University (Missouri). He has recently retired as director of Computing
and Telecommunication Services at California State University, Bakersfield.
Currently he is the Technical Projects Coordinator with Advanced
Networking with Minority Serving Institutions (AN-MSI), a National
Science Foundation grant through EDUCAUSE.
Dr. Langley holds an undergraduate degree in history, master's
degrees in theology and psychology and a doctorate in information
systems. He has been very active in various technology organizations
in higher education. He served on the board of directors of CAUSE
for 4 years, and was president in 1980. Dr. Langley was one of the
founders of the California Educational Computing Consortium. He
served on the Board of Directors from 1973 - 1983, and was president
from 1981 - 1982. He also was been a member of the board of directors
of several hardware and software users groups.
Dr. Langley has made presentations at many conferences and forums,
and has published several documents in education related publications.
Dr. Langley has been a consultant for a number of colleges and universities,
including: University of Puerto Rico, Northeastern Illinois University
and Mt. SAC Community College. He also has done consulting for the
Soviet Academy of Science, the Russian Academy of Science and the
US State Department in Yugoslavia (current Croatia). In his consulting
role with AN-MSI he has worked with over 40 colleges and universities.
